Concept
The idea i had for this brief was my own personal idea of what feels homely to me. To me home is being on my own and isolating myself from the world around me as i find great annoyance in the world and only feel myself when I am by myself. I also wanted to convey the idea of myself as my own motivation as the loneliest people in this world find that they have to overcome themselves if they want to improve their social
The idea behind these images is placing me in places that would usually be busy but having either removed from the environment or having the world move by whilst I am the only person who is seen as my idea of isolation from the world and also using double exposure to generate me twice within the image.
Influences
For my previous brief of portraiture i had taken a photo completely by accident using long shutter speed which led to an image of me that looked to be ghostly apparition within the room i was in as i had moved the camera from me to face the rest of the room whilst it was still exposing. From that one happy accident i had decided to utilise long shutter and exposure to capture my sense of isolation from the world.
Antione D’agata
Antione D’agata is a French photographer who used long exposure shots in the majority of his work. His images are often depicting very surreal images that deal with ideas of sex, drugs and dakrness. His use of long exposure lead to surreal images which look grotesque to ordinary people, but to me reminds of horros such as monsters from the silent hill franchise, and so removes the viewers from the world they know to gaze at this unkown they have never seen before.
”I use photography as a weapon. It allows me to face reality”
This quote is almost as to what my idea is for the home brief as i am using photography show my idea of my home or reality.

Double exposure.
Double exposure was first referred to as ”spirit photography” when it first became practice as it showed apparent ghostly apparitions. At first it was all done in camera or in the darkroom until post processing software became available and became easier to do with digital cameras.
Gjon Mili
Gjon is most well known for his images for LIFE magazine where he utilised double exposure to capture movements of his subjects. He would capture them by using a timed external light source that would flash and capture the subjects movement within the frame that would show them from their starting position and capture them at point during the movement all in one shot.

Reflection
I am very pleased with my images and the final results of them. From the moment i had accidentally made the double exposure photo i wanted to go along the lines of long exposure and double exposing as the idea intrigued me of having two thing overlap from a single image. But i couldn’t think of six different images in which to use the double exposure technique and had to use two long exposure shots to also convey me as an isolated individual as the world around me went by. My camera skills for this were not perfect as trial and error of trying to perfectly focus the shot for what i wanted then to get into position for the camera was difficult when doing it on my own for all the shots. The double exposure shots i like but feel as though i could have done them better. For the shots i wanted in the cathedral were i took two of them i feel as though i could have gone and taken them at a different time of day which would have allowed for more light to generate the effect that wanted within the cathedral. For the time now i am happy with the photos i took because i wanted to experiment with a form of photography which i did not fully look into or know much about until I made that happy accident. For a first attempt at long and double exposure and perhaps not using the best lens i am pleased with the final images.
